Poet and Arts Advocate

I am a poet, mother of 3, healthcare advocate and doula. I have been inspired by the landscape and natural treasures of the North Shore of Duluth, Minnesota. I enjoy coffee, running (slowly), hiking, and yoga. I also appreciate snuggling with furry creatures and prickly teens alike. --from my Amazon Bio.

Poetry in Publications and in Performance

Some of my poetry is available on Amazon, in the collections Coming to Duluth and Signs of Life, and in the journal Thunderbird Review.

Other poems (including "After the Endoscopy, in Which You Looked into My Guts and Found Nothing") have been published in the medical humanities journal Survive and Thrive (https://repository.stcloudstate.edu/survive_thrive/vol4/iss1/21/)

I read my poetry at Homegrown, at the Duluth All Souls Night events, and at open mic nights at Wussow's Cafe in West Duluth.

Arts Organizer and Advocate

I am also an arts organizer, having coordinated readings for the Alworth Planetarium and for Duluth's All Souls Night events.

I have also been a Board member of Lake Superior Writers. In that role, I have served as a judge for the annual poetry competition. I have also written for the LSW blog (
Cluttered and Trapped in a Strange World and Diving Deep: How to Write About Difficult Topics).  Poetry and art infuse my work, including my work as a doula.
